The Research

Moodboard & Color Palette Ideas

After showing our five sketches to three people, we decided to stick with the Joos.Box Surprise blind boxes after polishing up a few ideas. We picked blind boxes because of Joos's interest in them & it delights and surprises the consumers.

Game Engine Inspirations

Inspired by the minimalist aesthetics of well-known game engine Unity & Unreal Engine, we wanted our brand to be similar to these two. We did research on what color palettes to use, including black and white palettes & cool color combinations.

Moodboard & Color Palette Ideas

The client and I worked together on the moodboard for Atlas Engine. We both agreed to go for a vaporwave & minimalist look. This will be changed throughout the process of this brand study.

Sketching Ideas

After doing some initial research on potential game competitors together with the client & creating a backstory for the branding itself, we decided to do some sketching that reflects better on what Atlas Engine is supposed to be.

Font Explorations

In addition to experimenting with ideas, we also wanted to explore fonts that reflected on the branding itself. To be specific, we still wanted to keep a professional feeling, yet also reflects on the 3D aspect of the game engine itself. Some font examples of font ideas were Zuume Cut, Aboltion Oblique & Reroll Quadratic.

Finalized Logo Sketches

We decided to experiment more with the logos that the client felt satisfied with. We stuck with a blue and green color palette. However, after experimenting with what we had, we decided to switch to a different idea, which is the shield, protecting the planet iyself.

Finalizing *official* Logo!

Did I mention that we changed our logo to reflect more on the backstory? Yes! We also decided to change the color palette to reflect a mix of a minimalist aesthetic, also adding in the cool color aspect.
